College Of Engineering Honored Alum visited The Electrical Engineering Department

Karen was on campus being honored as the Honored Alumni for the College of Engineering.    She is also a Cal Poly Graduate with an Electrical Engineering specialization as part of her Engineering Science degree.  The photo shows Cal Poly students and faculty after she delivered the Electrical Engineering weekly seminar on Nov. 4th.   Karen was honored at the Friday Nov. 4th Honored Alumni Banquet and at the Cal Poly Homecoming Football game on Nov. 5th.


Karen Bartleson worked for 35 years in the semiconductor industry (Most recently as a senior director at Synopsis),  before becoming the international IEEE president in 2017.  Ms. Bartleson was president of the IEEE Standards Association in 2013 and 2014, as well as a member of the IEEE Board of Directors in 2013 and 2014 and a member of the IEEE strategy committee. She has published numerous articles about IEEE standards. She is the author of the book, The Ten Commandments for Effective Standards: Practical Insights for Creating Technical Standards, [Synopsys Press, 2010] and the blog, “The Standards Game”. In 2003, she received the Marie R. Pistilli Women in Electronic Design Automation Achievement Award at the 40th Design Automation Conference. Ms. Bartleson earned a B.S. in Engineering Science with a concentration in Electronic Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, Can Luis Obispo CA USA, in 1980.
