Summary
The Electrical Design intern provides a number of supporting roles for the Electrical Engineering group, some of which include site evaluation, single line designs, drafting support and project analysis. The Electrical Engineering Group designs rooftop and ground mounted solar systems and generates construction documents to support our in-house construction project management teams. The group provides critical input to all divisions within the company. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical design principles and possess excellent communication and creative problem solving skills. AutoCAD skills are a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Preparation of electrical designs for rooftop and free standing ground-mounted solar systems
- Site visits and electrical audits, including occasional domestic and international travel
- Drafting support for electrical designs
- Coordination with Sales Leads, Project Managers, and other project participants
- Creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawing packages
- Creating Bills of Materials for projects
Education and Experience
- Currently in school working on a degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with an emphasis on Power Systems and/or Power Electronics
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles
- Candidates must be highly organized and capable of working on multiple projects
- Basic understanding of large scale project construction is a plus
- Good communication skills
