Professor Breitenbach joined the EL/EE Department in June 1986. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Cal Poly Pomona in 1977, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech in 1978, and a Ph.D. in Engineering (Communication Systems) from UCLA in 1983. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Motorola (mobile communications research) in Fort Worth, Texas from 1978 to 1980 and as Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Michigan from 1983 to 1986. He received NASA/ASEE Summer Faculty Fellowships at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena in 1989 and 1990.
