Eugene “Gene” Fabricius passed from this life on October 22, 2016, at the age of 86.  This was the day after Gene and Peggy, his beloved wife, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.  He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

After earning a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Gene was a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Cal Poly for 25 years from Fall Quarter of 1970 through Winter Quarter of 1995. Gene taught solid state electronics and helped to develop the solid state electronics laboratory at Cal Poly. He was a scholar and he used his talents to enhance the reputation of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. He published some of his own textbooks for his senior courses: "Introduction To VLSI Design" and "Modern Digital Design and Switching Theory" and their Solution Manuals.

Gene and Peggy were very active in retirement, and participated in many of Cal Poly’s Retired Faculty and Staff forums and June Jubilee celebrations.
